To the President and the Members of the
Vereinigung Öffentlicher Mandatare und Funktionäre
Vienna – Austria
Lund, 3rd November 2020.
Dear Mr President,
Dear Colleagues,
With great sorrow I write this message to express our European Association of Former Parliamentarians’ solidarity with the victims of the tragic events that lately have happened in Paris, Nice and now Vienna.
Our warmest thoughts go to their families and the French and the Austrian peoples. We as European citizens who after so many years of wars have successfully established peace and economic progress between and amongst us, must stand together to preserve and protect our democratic way of life and freedom.
These tragic terrorist attacks have shocked the civil world. Nobody could have anticipated what has happened, and once again showed how the free world must be aware of the evil and mad individuals holding distorted ideas that sadly are being promoted. Evil has been with us from the beginning of our history, but humanity who values the rightness of humanity, has at the end always conquered. We former members of Parliament coming from more than 20 different countries send our deepest solidarity and condolences to the families of the victims of these inhumane acts.
Yours Sincerely,
Rune Rydén President
