Dear Colleagues, Friends,
I wanted to thank you, once again, for the trust you have placed in me. I am delighted that we have reached an agreement with Walter Schwimmer following the vote, which did not make it possible to decide between us.
Thus we can continue serenely, in the conviviality that governs our work, the actions carried out by the previous presidents with the assemblies of the moment.
As I told you after my election, I presented myself to you with a program. I am therefore committed to you to implement it.
The theme of our next colloquy is already moving in this direction by addressing the theme of “the influence of climate change on migration and social policy: the role of parliamentary diplomacy”. The restricted bureau meeting at the end of the Extraordinary General Meeting decided to propose to the next bureau meeting, in Berlin, to organize it in October 2023; the rapporteur Mr. Calzolaio presenting a first draft at this meeting our delegations will then have a year to discuss it in their respective associations and present any amendments.
A second work is also engaged on the grooming of the statutes and the regulations by Mrs. Herzet, you will be associated with it soon.
I proposed to the restricted bureau to renew the experience of our former president to hold his meetings regularly by videoconference.
In the coming weeks, I will be proposing some ideas to you in order to make us better known and on the other hand to strengthen our privileged links with the Council of Europe.
In a context heavy with painful consequences, mainly due to the war on our European territory but also to successive epidemics and disturbing climate change, we must try to bring, by our experience and our diversity, our contribution, for the generations to come. . I count on you.
I wish you an excellent holiday, may serenity fill you with happiness.
Jean Pierre
