 Assassination - Declaration

We, the Association of Former Parliamentarians of the Member States of the Council of Europe learned with great sadness of the assassination of Jo Cox, an active and committed Member of the Parliament of the United-Kingdom. We condemn this hate crime with the utmost vigor and warn against further radicalization in the political climate of several European states. Our sincere condolences go to the husband and children of Mrs Cox, her relatives and friends and to the British people who lost a democratically elected representative who died for her conviction. We consider her assassination as an attack on democracy and appeal to the European nations to defend together our common values that are at stake.
